11.07.2025 Summer Garden Party


On Friday, July 11th, 2025, Goethe Welcome Centre in cooperation with the "Foundation for the fostering of GU's internatioanl scienticfic relations (IWBZ)" hosted the annual Summer Garden Party for international researchers and doctoral candidates at GU's guesthouse on Ditmarstraße 4. Around 65 international researchers came and were welcomed by a speech by Prof. Bereiter-Hahn, chairman of the IWBZ foundation. Apart from the beautiful weather, we were blessed with a pot-luck buffet with a variety of international dishes prepared by the attending researchers and a rich Nepali buffet.  Live Jazz music created a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for catching up with each other and to enjoy this summer evening. 

Thanks to everybody who came to celebrate with us and made this memorable event possible!

14.06.2025 Excursion to Saalburg Fort


On Saturday, June 16th 2025 the GWC organized a group excursion to the Saalburg Fort in Taunus.  From Frankfurt Mainstation, we started our trip towards the Taunus Forest. Arriving at the Saalburg Fort, we were greeted by our tour guide, After an engaging tour through the Fort grounds and the museum, we took a nice lunch break and ate in the Forts own Restaurant Taberna. Strengthened by the authentic roman cuisine, the group was ready to take a walk around the Saalburg. We discovered the surrounding archeological sites, including a reconstructed village and a Roman Mithras-Cult building. Interesting conversations about the rich history of the Taunus region and warm sunshine accompanied our day. 

 


17.05.2025 Excursion to the Opelzoo

On 17 May 2025, the GWC organized a group excursion to the Opel-Zoo in Kronberg. Participants had the chance to discover over 1,600 animals from around the world – including elephants, giraffes, zebras, flamingos, and many other fascinating species.As we explored the spacious zoo grounds with its various food options, there was plenty to see and experience. From curious meerkats to majestic elephants, the visit offered memorable moments and opportunities for engaging conversations.


 


10.05.2025 Guided City Tour through Frankfurt

On May 10, our international researchers had the opportunity to explore Frankfurt's rich history and vibrant cityscape during a guided city tour led by Mr. von Bothmer.

The morning began with a stunning view over the skyline from the Main Tower, followed by a walk past notable landmarks through the city center. The group made its way to Frankfurt's historic Old Town, where a visit to St. Paul's Church – also known as the cradle of German democracy – offered fascinating insights into the city's past. The event concluded with a relaxed lunch together, giving participants the chance to get to know each other and share their impressions of the day.

On April 25, Mr. v. Bothmer led a group of international newcomers on a historical tour across Westend Campus.


01.03.2025 Tour through Palmengarten

On Saturday 1st, 2025, we enjoyed a guided tour through Palmengarten where no plant of the world was left unseen. Within 2 hours, we crossed five continents and discovered countless vegetation zones and their flora, some of which our international researchers already knew from their home countries. We had a splendid afternoon with sunny weather and enjoyed the good atmosphere within our group. Furthermore, our visit to the butterfly house must absolutely be mentioned - their current exhibition "Abgestaubt - von Blüten und ihren Besuchern" ("Dusted off - Of Flowers and their Visitors") had us in awe and was the perfect finish to this memorable day. Thank you for spending this day with us and to many more! 

08.02.2025 Visit to OUR HOUSE exhibition at Museum Giersch

On 8th February 2025, a group of international researchers from Goethe Welcome Centre visited the OUR HOUSE exhibition at the Museum Giersch.The exhibition explored housing as both an existential and political issue. In the museum's historic spaces, artists presented works addressing topics such as housing shortages, social inequality, and living spaces as aesthetic environments. The connection between the artworks and the building's architecture was particularly striking.The visit sparked engaging discussions on sustainable and fair housing—an issue of great contemporary relevance.

06.02.2025 New Year's Reception

On February 6, the Goethe Welcome Centre and the Foundation for the Promotion of International Scientific Relations at ¿´Æ¬Èí¼þ hosted their traditional New Year's reception for the university's international researchers. The event took place at GU's guest house on Frauenlobstraße.Following a champagne reception, the President of ¿´Æ¬Èí¼þ, Prof. Dr. Enrico Schleiff, welcomed the more than 80 guests. In his speech, he reflected on the year 2024 and provided insights into the university's future development, emphasizing its commitment to international excellence.The evening was rounded off the Jazz piano player Shanaka Perera and a lavish Palestinian buffet.

01.02.2025 Exploring Language and Culture – A Visit to the Städel Museum

Learning German is more than just mastering grammar and vocabulary – it is also about understanding the culture behind the language. As a special conclusion to our "Deutsch im Alltag 1 und 2" course, our participants embarked on a cultural journey to one of Frankfurt's most renowned institutions, the Städel Museum.The visit on February 1, 2025, provided a opportunity to explore European art history, from the Old Masters to contemporary works. The impressive collection sparked engaging discussions, allowing our learners to connect language with cultural expression.To round off this experience, the group gathered for a final shared meal, celebrating their achievements and the friendships formed along the way. A wonderful way to bring this chapter of their language journey to a close!
