PROTECTdissemination: promotion: Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration
With PROTECTdissemination, a dissemination structure of 15 regional centres is currently being implemented in Baden-Württemberg. Prevention specialists are trained as PROTECT trainers in order to make the PROTECT prevention programme accessible for a big group of adolescents and schools. This way, by the end of 2022 1,800 12- to 18-year-old students of 90 classes in the regional centres in Baden-Württemberg are supposed to receive PROTECT as primary prevention programme. The development of the dissemination structure is supported by the Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration of Baden-Württemberg with a volume of 363,565 €.
PROTECTconfirm: promotion: Federal Ministry for Education and Research
Building on PROTECTdissemination, PROTECTcofirm serves as a confirmatory evaluation of the effectiveness and longitudinal effects of the primary prevention programme PROTECT for Gaming and Internet Disorder under real-life conditions (effectiveness). The study is planned as a two-armed multicentre randomised-controlled prospective longitudinal trial in which the prospective effectiveness of two alternatives of the prevention programme PROTECT (PROTECTtraining and PROTECTinfo) is investigated over the course of 12 months. The study is supported by the Federal Ministry for Education and Research with a funding volume of 549,986 €.
The survey was approved of by the Ministry for Culture, Youth and Sports Baden-Württemberg. No scientific quality control is associated with this approval. The approval has only been granted on the basis of the specifications of the administrative regulation “Advertising, Competitions, and Surveys in Schools” (Werbung, Wettbewerbe und Erhebungen in Schulen) of the 21st September 2002 (K.u.U.S. 309) that has lastly been changed through the administrative regulation of the 28th October 2005 (K.u.U.S. 167). With regards to content the study was evaluated and found uncritical by the ethics committee of Faculty 05 Psychology and Sport Science of Goethe-University Frankfurt.
