Curriculum Vitae

Thomas Zittel is professor for Comparative Politics at Goethe-University Frankfurt. Zittel holds an MA from Johns Hopkins University (USA) and a PhD from the University of Mannheim (Germany), where he also completed his Habilitation. He received among others fellowships from the European University Institute at Florence (Fernand Braudel), the Minda de Gunzburg Centre for European Studies at Harvard University (J.F. Kennedy Memorial), the Max-Planck Centre for Social Research in Cologne, and the American Political Science Association (Congressional Fellowship). His research was supported from the German National Science Foundation (DFG), the Fritz-Thyssen-Foundation, the National Science Foundation (USA), and the Flamish Science Foundations (FWO). Prior to coming to Frankfurt, Thomas Zittel taught at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY (USA), Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, University of Duisburg-Essen, and University of Mannheim. Between 9/2021 and 8/2024, he held the Max Weber Visiting Chair for European and German Studies at New York University (USA).
