Visiting Reseacher

Fabian Mush枚vel

Fabian Mush枚vel has been a visiting fellow at the working group Political Science with a Focus on Education Policy / Political Socialization Research since 2022. Fabian is a political economist working on matters of economic inequality and the politics of redistribution, the political economy of welfare state reforms and social investment, as well as the European Economic and Monetary Union and its institutions.

Currently, Fabian is a Marie Sk艂odowska-Curie Research Fellow at the European University Institute. Prior to that he was the inaugural Nicholas Barr Fellow in European Political Economy at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Max Weber Fellow at the EUI. He held visiting positions at the Economics Department at UC Berkeley and the Government Department at Harvard University, and previously worked as a consultant for Chatham House and analyst at the Centre for Economic Performance. Fabian holds a PhD in European Political Economy from the London School of Economics.

Katrijn Siderius

Katrijn Siderius is a PhD candidate at the Institute of Political Science and is supervised by Professor Dr. Julian Garritzmann. Her PhD is on the political economy of the transition to a sustainable economy.

Katrijn is working as policy advisor at the Dutch Ministry of Finance and graduated in 2018 as MSc of Political Science and Public Administration from the University of Konstanz (Germany) and Utrecht University (The Netherlands), with a focus on political economy, European Union governance and research design.

鈥婱irko Wegemann

Since 2024, Mirko Wegemann has been a visiting researcher in the Political Science with a Focus on Education Policy / Political Socialization Research. His research focuses on the analysis of discourse patterns of radical right parties and the role of descriptive representation in communicating political decisions. Another key area of his work examines gender inequalities in the context of political participation. Methodologically, he employs various quantitative text analysis techniques as well as (quasi-)experimental methods.

Mirko is a research associate in the "Comparative Politics" unit led by Prof. Daniel Bischof at the University of M眉nster. He previously earned his PhD at the European University Institute in Florence and completed research stays at the University of Vienna and Humboldt University in Berlin.
