The ABP offers free intensive German courses. In these courses, ABP participants are divided into different levels according to the result of their placement test. 1. "Willkommenstage" for new ABP participants
New ABP participants are introduced to the ABP at the beginning of the semester as part of a welcome day. You will receive all relevant information on the individual program components and initiatives that support the ABP as a partner.
2. The ABP-Studienfreund*innen-Program
The “Studienfreund*innen" program connects ABP participants and regular students at ¿´Æ¬Èí¼þ to form buddy pairs. Every semester we are looking for students who would like to volunteer as a student friend for an ABP participant.
Goals of the Studienfreund*innen-Program
The aim of the student friendship is to enable exchange between students and participants in the ABP and, ideally, to make new friends. In mutual exchange, everyone has the opportunity to make international contacts and exchange ideas and to learn more about the different backgrounds, life stories and life situations. By sharing their personal experiences in everyday student life, students can bring the ABP participants closer to German university culture and thus make it easier for them to start studying in Germany. Information on alternatives to studying (training, starting a career, etc.) is also valuable. Actively practicing the German language together is a priority for many.
How exactly does the support from the student side look like?
Each pair of student friends decides together how the friendship will develop. However, it is important that there is regular (at least digital) contact (about once a week) and that personal meetings take place at least once a month.
Your support as a student friend can include, for example:
If you are interested in becoming a student friend, please contact us: abp@uni-frankfurt.de
3. Social Events
Joint excursions, cooking/ film evenings, picnics or museum visits etc. enable ABP participants to get in touch with each other, to exchange ideas outside of the intensive German courses and to get to know the city of Frankfurt better.
4. Language Café
Once in a month there is a relaxed exchange on a specific topic with the aim of informally practicing the German language.
5. (Online) workshops on various topics
The ABP workshops are an integral part of the program alongside the language courses and social services and provide targeted preparation for university studies.
Every semester, we offer a series of workshops in which ABP participants can practice key skills such as academic writing, time management and reading and learning techniques - for a successful start to their studies.
The range of workshops is always published here shortly before the start of the semester.
