"Unfortunately, there is still no equality of opportunity and people with
fewer financial resources are severely disadvantaged in our education
system. Scholarships contribute to greater educational equality.
Socially engaged people should take advantage of this opportunity."

"First-generation university students and students from
working-class families in particular often have doubts and
reservations about scholarships, and I was no different.
But that's exactly what the broad range of foundations is
there for. There is something here for every target group."

"My advice to all students: take a chance! Try your luck.
Don't ask yourself what will happen if you don't get the
scholarship. Ask yourself: What opportunities will open
up for me? What opportunities will I get? What happens
if I do get the scholarship?"

Trust in your abilities, craft compelling applications, and know that your determination can lead you to the financial support you need to advance your academic journey."

a new perspective because you have to open

it's a great relief not to have to work on the side and to be able to concentrate fully

can speak five languages, write theorems for breakfast and
play the piano blind. Most of them are just normal people who
are enthusiastic about their subjects."

"After graduating from high school, when I wanted to start my studies, I had
a lot of financial worries about how I could better finance my studies. I wanted
to concentrate on my studies and didn't want my study time to be reduced
by having to work a lot. A scholarship helped me to concentrate on my studies
without financial worries."

Scholarship program of the Studienstiftung “Metropolen in Mittel-, Südost- und Osteuropa" (Metropolises in Central, Southeast, and Eastern Europe): Funding for a stay abroad, usually lasting one year (minimum duration 7 months – maximum duration 4 semesters) with an intensive language course in the destination country (at least two weeks) starting in the 2026/27 academic year. The foreign allowance can only be granted for the first twelve months, unless there is a change of destination country after the first twelve months. The stay abroad must begin in summer/fall 2026. A study-related internship lasting several weeks can round off the experience abroad. The program is also open to applicants who have had little or no contact with countries in Central, Southern, and Eastern Europe. Funding for complete master's programs abroad is also possible. The program is aimed at both individuals who are already receiving funding from the Studienstiftung and students who are newly accepted into the program.
